Apache / Tomcat

The Apache Web server, the most popular Web server on the Internet, is included with NetWare 6. Currently sixty-two percent of all Web servers are Apache Web servers, making it more widely used than all other Web servers combined. The Apache Web server for NetWare offers a number of modules including Mod_NDS, Mod_JK and Mod_Hdir. Mod_Hdir enables Web pages to be served up from a user's home based directory and AUTH_LDAP enables LDAP authentication to LDAP directories including NDS. Many of the Web-based services in NetWare 6 (such as NetWare Remote Manager, NetWare Web Manager, and iFolder) rely upon Apache for their HTTP services.

Also included as an extension of Apache services is the Tomcat JSP servlet container from the Jakarta project. Tomcat was also selected as a key component in the new Web Services Pack from Sun Microsystems. Tomcat is the official reference implementation of Java Servlet and Java Server Page technologies. These specifications have been developed by Sun under the Java Community Process. Tomcat 3.2.2 and 3.3 are included with NetWare 6. Both versions interoperate with JVM 1.3 for NetWare.
