Goals and Descriptions

Primary level physical education provides a wide variety of movement experiences designed to develop: (1) fundamental stability; (2) manipulative, rhythm and dance movement skills; (3) locomotor and nonlocomotor skills; (4) spatial awareness; and (5) effort and relationship concepts. These coeducational experiences should encourage socialization, development of positive attitudes, and the integration and reinforcement of a variety of educational concepts. This course fosters participation in games and activities that help students achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of fitness and acquire a basic level of knowledge and skill in cardiorespiratory endurance, body composition, flexibility, and muscular strength and endurance. Ongoing assessment is conducted throughout the curriculum.
